Голландский фотограф Ралф Ролсе в рамках своего проекта «Маски» создал портреты известных граффти-райтеров и художников, приехавших на фестиваль Step In The Arena.
Ралф Ролсе (Ralph Roelse) родился и вырос в небольшой деревушке на юге Голландии. В 1997-м году он увлекся граффити и начал путешествовать по Европе и активно рисовать на стенах и поездах. Вот, что сам Ралф рассказывает о том, как отошел от граффити и стал фотографом: «В 2005-м году я залез в депо и пробрался в ангар: там стояли поезда и ждали, когда на них что-нибудь нарисуют. Я сфотографировал свой кусок, а, когда проявлял пленку, обнаружил, что в кадр попал один из моих товарищей. Его присутствие сделало эту фотографию мощной — один-единственный снимок рассказывал всю историю нашего приключения. С этого момента мне расхотелось рисовать самому и захотелось фотографировать других райтеров. Так я начал использовать вместо банки с краской фотоаппарат».
В конце июня этого года в голландском городе Эйндховене состоялся ежегодный масштабный фестивальStep In The Arena, на который приехали многие известные граффити-райтеры и художники со всего мира. Ралф решил создать портреты некоторых художников и придумал проект «Маски». Специально для него он выпилил деревянные круги. Художник расписали их так, чтобы они вписывались в работу на стене, а затем закрыли ими лица — так получилась необычная серия снимков из Эйндховена.
